Les travaux de Jean-Charles Pomerol portent sur le thème "Intelligence Artificielle et Décision". Ils concernent tous les aspects accompagnant le développement de systèmes intelligents pour l'aide à la décision (décision multicritère, décision basée sur le contexte), de la modélisation formelle des problèmes décisionnels à la mise en oeuvre de systèmes d'aide à la décision dans des contextes décisionnels réels. Jean-Charles Pomerol s'intéresse également à la recherche heuristique en IA pour la résolution de problèmes.
